Jul 3, 2025 | 4:55 PM

The Prince Albert Predators wrapped up the regular season in the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League (PGLL) last night and despite not playing since June 18, they picked up right where they left off.

On Wednesday, the Predators welcomed the Saskatoon Swat to the Kinsmen Arena for the final game on the schedule where it wasn’t even a contest. P.A. dominated right off the jump and ended up cruising past the visitors, 23-3.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

The game started with the Predators going up 7-0 after the first period, while holding the Swat to just four shots on goal. It went from bad to worse for Saskatoon in the second as at one point, they were trailing 12-0 before Andy Gao finally got the icebreaker midway through the period. However, the pile on continued with P.A. adding three more in the frame to lead 15-1 entering the third.

The onslaught continued in the final 20 minutes as P.A. hung another eight goals in the period, while the Swat had a team high two tallies with goals from Everett Breniser and Luca Treppel as the Preds feasted on Saskatoon with a 20-goal victory.

The win marks the 11th of the season for the top-ranked Predators in a nearly perfect regular season where they finished 11-0-1 (W-L-T). The tie came in their first game of the year, also against Saskatoon, 15-15.

Leading Prince Albert in the emphatic win was veteran Brayden Rieger, who managed a whopping four goals and nine assists – the only player to surpass double digit points in the game. The total also pushed him to 255 career points in the PGLL, 30 behind the leader Kenny Stewart, who played from 2002-05.

Behind him on the scoresheet was Matthew Cudmore with nine points (3G-6A), with six points each were Ryley Prediger (4G-2A) and Talon Sandry (3G-3A), and with five were Cole Barmby (4G-1A) and Logan Rieger (2G-3A), followed by Braden Shewchuk with four (1G-3A), Mason Crain with three (1G-2A), Rowan Rudderham with two (2A), and Theran Lysitza had a lone goal while Tobey Oshanek managed an assist.

Since winning the regular season, the Predators have been given a bye in the semifinals of the playoffs and advance straight to the finals. They’ll face the winner of Moose Jaw and Swift Current, who will play a one-and-done semifinal game on July 5 in Moose Jaw.

Game 1 of the best-of-three PGLL Finals is set for July 19 in either Moose Jaw or Swift Current, while Game 2 is scheduled for 7 p.m. on July 26 in P.A. at Kinsmen Arena. If necessary, a modified championship-deciding Game 3 will happen immediately following Game 2 at Kinsmen.
