Flying Dust gets an extra 16 acres of mineral rights
The federal government is set to transfer an extra 16 hectares of Crown mineral rights following the approval by the Government of Saskatchewan on behalf of Flying Dust First Nation.
The transfer is in support of the Saskatchewan Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) Framework Agreement and now roughly 5,620 hectares of Crown mineral rights have been moved under the TLE.
“The Treaty Land Entitlement Agreement process is a crucial part of our responsibility to fulfil our Treaty commitments,” Minister Responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs Eric Schmalz said in a statement.
“These transfers support the creation of reserve lands and open the door for long-term opportunities that benefit not only First Nations, but all Saskatchewan communities.”
