Fundraiser on Saturday for those who lost homes to wildfire

Jul 4, 2025 | 4:39 PM

Residents are invited to show their support for those who lost their homes due to wildfires.

A fundraiser, which is being organized by Jude and Frannie Ratt, will be held Saturday at the urban reserve starting at 1 p.m. It will include a 50/50 draw, a silent auction, poker tables, a yard sale, live entertainment and food.

Cravings Late Night Food owners Jamie and Charmaine Charles will be selling food items and 100 per cent of funds raised will go towards the cause. Volunteers are also coming together to provide entertainment.

Frannie Ratt explained after tri-community residents returned from evacuation, she put a call out for donations, and there was an overwhelming response.

“We have a training centre in Air Ronge and it is full to the rim. I just have no place to put anything anymore and people are still giving us donations,” she said.

“I have seven families who are signed up with me and they came and got what they needed.”

The remaining items will be sold in the yard sale with new items included in the silent auction. Staff with Kikinahk Friendship Centre will be on site to give out tax receipts for any monetary donations.
