ROAD CLOSURES

Roadwork to close stretch of 40th Ave. in Lloyd next week

Jul 8, 2025 | 5:14 PM

Drivers in Lloydminster will see road closures on 40th Ave. starting Tuesday, July 15, as the city begins planned roadwork and infrastructure upgrades.

The city said the work, which is weather-dependent, will close 40th Ave. between 36th St. and 44th St. in two phases.

The upgrades are part of Lloydminster’s annual Street Improvement Program, which focuses on replacing, rehabilitating and expanding aging surface infrastructure such as roads, sidewalks, and curbs.

According to the city, the work aims to maintain the serviceability and safety of the transportation network while addressing growing traffic volumes, changing patterns and capacity needs.

Additional safety improvements include upgraded crosswalks, new signage and potential installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacons.

“Most of these safety improvements focus on school and playground zones and pedestrian safety.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes during construction. Detour signage and business access signs will be posted to guide drivers around the work zone.

The final completion date is scheduled for August 29, 2025, weather permitting, however, the roadway may be open to traffic before that date. More information on street projects is available at Lloydminster.ca/SIP.
