Meadow Lake RCMP arrest two men in connection to June shooting

Two men who have been wanted by Meadow Lake RCMP for three weeks have been located and are now behind bars.

After an altercation between a group of individuals at Waterhen Lake First Nation lead to a man being shot and taken to hospital for non-life threatening issues, police started to look for 27-year-old Christopher Ernest from Waterhen Lake First Nation, and 23-year-old Brandon McCallum from Canoe Lake First Nation.

Ernest has been charged with:

  • one count, carry a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • one count, discharge firearm with intent

McCallum is charged with:

  • one count, carry a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • one count, assault with a weapon

McCallum was arrested by Beauval RCMP on Canoe Lake Cree First nation on June 28, and made his first court appearance the same day in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.

Ernest was arrested in Sherwood Park, Alberta by Alberta RCMP on July 5. He made his first court appearance on July 10
