Town of Choiceland cries fowl after chicken carcasses found in recycling

An unusual reminder from the Town of Choiceland after an unwanted discovery in a recent load of recycling.

“MTN Disposal Ltd recovered two dead domestic chickens from the most recent load of [recycling] that was picked up in the Choiceland/Smeaton area,” a social media post from the town stated.

The town reminded residents in Choiceland and surrounding communities that disposal of animal carcasses is not permitted in recycling loads nor in garbage bins provided for household use.

They said the landfill does not accept carcasses.

The town also does not have a bylaw permitting chickens or any type of livestock within town limits.

“If you are unsure as to which items are allowed in your [recycling] bin, please stop by the office and a list can be provided,” the town stated.
