Conditional sentence order for man charged after ramming police vehicle

A man who was charged after a stolen truck hit a police vehicle in Hudson Bay has received his sentence.

James Whitehead, 22, received a conditional sentence order, which means he will not be incarcerated but will serve his sentence in the community under strict conditions.

His co-accused, 30-year-old Sabrina Kelly, received a similar sentence earlier this year.

Hudson Bay RCMP were called about a stolen truck in the community last November.

When officers approached the vehicle with emergency lights engaged, the truck accelerated and struck the front passenger side of the police cruiser.

Officers used a conducted energy device on Whitehead, who was driving the vehicle and tried to flee.

He and Kelly were then arrested.
