The Battlefords North Stars have added another promising piece to their roster, signing 2006-born forward Drew Williamson from Wimborne, Alberta.

Williamson split his 2024–25 season between the AJHL’s Drumheller Dragons and the Three Hills Thrashers of the Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL). After playing nine games with Drumheller, Williamson found his stride with the Thrashers, notching an impressive 19 goals and 22 assists for 41 points in just 16 regular season games.

Before making the jump to Junior hockey, Williamson suited up with South Alberta Hockey Academy in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL), where he tallied 24 points (6 goals, 18 assists) in 30 games.

North Stars head coach and general manager Connor Logan said the team is thrilled to bring Williamson into the fold.

“He’s a crafty player and can make plays. He’s able to scan the ice, his playmaking is through the roof, he’s got a good shot and his speed is probably the biggest asset he has,” said Logan. “I’m really excited to see him at camp and really excited to see how he fits in. He’s one of those guys that we saw and just had to get him, he’s got an engine on him and I think he is going to do really well.”
