Council update on progress of 2025 strategic plan

Administration provided a progress update on La Ronge council’s strategic priorities for 2025 at a regular meeting on Monday.

“There were a few that were pushed back just because of the emergency obviously, but for the most part, not too bad,” said Chief Administrative Officer Lyle Hannan.

The submitted report shows since the beginning of the year, various tasks have been completed such as the creation of a Residential Development Strategy, an update to the Housing Incentive Program Policy, the completion of the Robertson Drive Phase 3 Engineering Assessment, the hanging of flower baskets, the installation of new waste receptacles, repairs to the fire hall roof and more.

In the next two months, residents can expect work to be done on street line painting, crack sealing, an animal pound expansion, the sale of land and service agreement for a new RCMP detachment, a scope review on a Mel Hegland Uniplex project, and an insurance and finance report on the 2025 wildfire event.

The entire strategic plan for 2025 can be found online here.

Also at Monday’s meeting, council made three readings to update the Community Standards Bylaw.

“With the recent airport subdivision being formally created, additional civic addresses have been created,” a report states.

“These civic addresses, and a few others, have been incorporated into the proposed/update to Community Standards Bylaw. Community Standards Bylaw 722/25, replacing 704/22, is a required administrative step that will incorporate the new airport subdivision into civic addressing.”
