One of the biggest events of the summer is back in the Battlefords. The 10th Annual McDonald’s Colby Cave Memorial PBR Classic goes down this Thursday, July 24, 7 p.m. at the Access Communications Centre.

The event, part of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Touring Pro Division, is expected to bring a crowd of around 1,500 spectators for an exciting evening of bull riding action and live entertainment.

As usual, The Classic will feature riders from all over North America, including some of the top talent from Canada.

“Coming to this event is Dakota Buttar, Aaron Roy, Jared Parsonage and Jordan Hansen, those are some of the top riders in Canada,” said Jodi Chmelnyk, a committee member with North Battleford PBR.

Beyond the bull riding, the event also serves an important purpose as a fundraiser as proceeds benefit several important charities: Ronald McDonald House, the Battlefords Trade and Education Centre, STARS Ambulance and the Colby Cave Memorial Fund, an organization created in honor of the late NHL player who was from the Battlefords.

However, things will look a little different this year, as to celebrate the 10-year milestone, this event will introduce something new.

“We are celebrating the 10 years with a band cabaret performance from country artist Kieran Gardner,” said Chmelnyk. “We wanted to add something a little different and bring a little excitement for the community.”

The live band cabaret will perform from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Tickets are $40.00 and are available in advance at Austin’s Saddlery or can be purchased at the door.
