Rudolph named to Canada’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup
Prince Albert Raiders defenceman Daxon Rudolph is set to represent Canada on the world stage for the fourth time as the roster for this year’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup has been announced. Rudolph is one of 11 players from the WHL who made the cut as part of Canada’s U18 squad.
Starting August 11 and finishing on the 16, eight teams from Canada, U.S., Sweden, Finland, Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, and Switzerland will gather in Brno, Czechia, and Trencin Slovakia. It serves as a ‘first look’ for many NHL scouts for players eligible to be drafted during the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
Canada has won gold at each of the last three tournaments, and in total has won 29 medals in the tournament’s history. That comes from 25 gold medals, three silver, and one bronze, and only two years, 2007 and 2016, where Canada competed but didn’t medal. Canada didn’t compete in 2021.
Rudolph has played for Team Canada on three separate occasions in the past, winning a gold medal in last year’s U17 World Hockey Challenge, a bronze medal during this past spring’s U18 World Championships, and a third time as part of the Youth Olympic Games in the 2024.
