Driver escapes vehicle fire in Nipawin

A truck fire had the Nipawin Fire Department (NFD) on their toes.

Crews were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Highway 55 on the eastern edge of Nipawin Monday morning.

The pickup truck was fully on fire by the time crews arrived.

The driver escaped the truck with some of his possessions.

The department said the fire was difficult to put out because the gas tank was slowly leaking fuel.

That was call number 157 for the NFD in 2025, with nine of those being vehicle fires.

They had just six vehicle fires in all of 2024.
