A local emergency medical services operation has been sold.

Naicam and District Ambulance has announced the sale of its operation to Duck Mountain Ambulance Care Ltd.

A news release from the Town of Naicam stated the decision to transfer ownership “reflects a mutual dedication to enhancing service levels, investing in local infrastructure, and securing the long-term presence of emergency services in Naicam and surrounding areas.”

The sale will take effect Sept. 1.

“Our team at the Naicam and District Ambulance has been deeply committed to this community,” Mayor Rodger Hayward said. “We look forward to working with Duck Mountain Ambulance Care because they share our values and recognize how essential these services are to the people of Naicam.”

Heyward said they are proud of the legacy they have built and are confident that Duck Mountain will carry it forward keeping that tradition alive.

As part of the transition, the Town of Naicam will work with Duck Mountain Ambulance Care to ensure that the operations proceed without interruption.

“Retaining current staff and integrating new resources to meet growing demand will be core priorities,” the statement read.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority issued a memo about the sale. Director EMS Central and Provincial Medical First Responder Program Krista Remeshylo said that residents can be assured that ambulance service will continue in the community.

“Duck Mountain Ambulance Care has a strong track record of delivering high-quality Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in a number of Saskatchewan communities,” Remeshylo stated. “We are confident this transition will maintain and enhance the level of care residents have come to rely on.”

Duck Mountain Ambulance Care is owned by brothers Curtis and Ryan Monette of Aspen Paramedic Services. They currently provide ambulance services for the communities of Watson, Canora, Preeceville, Kamsack, and Norquay.
