Saskatchewan leading the nation in employment rates
Saskatchewan was the only province to see an increase in employment in July. The province also had the lowest unemployment rate in the country at 5 per cent, or 22,000 full-time jobs, according to the Labour Force Survey.
“Today’s labour market numbers continue to demonstrate that Saskatchewan is leading the nation with our strong economy, and our government is committed to ensuring this growth continues,” said Deputy Premier and Immigration and Career Training Minister Jim Reiter in a statement.
Saskatchewan’s two biggest cities saw year-over-year growth. Compared to July 2024, Saskatoon’s employment was up 4,300, an increase of 2.1 per cent, and Regina’s employment was up 5,600, an increase of 3.8 per cent, stated in a statement.
