The Court of King’s Bench in Battleford will undergo a major elevator modernization this fall as part of a provincial infrastructure investment.

The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement said work at the courthouse is expected to begin in September, with upgrades including new interior finishes, along with updated mechanical and electrical components.

The project aims to improve safety, reliability, energy efficiency and performance, while ensuring the elevator meets current codes. The work will also replace outdated equipment to reduce maintenance costs.

“These upgrades are an important investment in the safety and reliability of our government buildings,” SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister David Marit said in a release issued Thursday.

“By modernizing infrastructure, we are ensuring these facilities remain accessible, efficient and ready to serve Saskatchewan people for many years to come.”

The Ministry said it remains committed to maintaining government-owned buildings and ensuring they provide a safe environment for the public.

The work at the Battleford courthouse is expected to be complete by the winter of 2026.

Similar work has also begun at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) Building in Regina.
