Vigilant staff members at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary near Prince Albert have once again intercepted a large amount of drugs.

Corrections Canada said today that on August 16, they found and seized heroin, cocaine, crystal meth, THC and some unidentified pills.

The total value inside the prison is $326,725.

RCMP have been notified and are continuing their investigation.

CSC uses items like ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings and the property along with visitors, inmates and personal property to prevent the inflow of controlled substances.

CSC has also set up a telephone tip line for all federal institutions so that it may receive additional information about activities relating to security at CSC institutions. These activities may be related to drug use or trafficking that may threaten the safety and security of visitors, inmates, and staff members working at CSC institutions.

The toll-free number, 1‑866‑780‑3784, helps ensure that the information shared is protected and that callers remain anonymous.
