The Mayor of Tisdale has resigned.

Town Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Lovely Magnaye posted on the town’s website that Roy Skoglund resigned as mayor as of Aug. 14.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to Mayor Skoglund for his service to our community for the past nine months,” the post read.

No reason for the resignation was given in the statement, which was released early Tuesday evening.

“Serving on Council is both an honour and a challenge, requiring dedication to legislative responsibilities and an unwavering commitment to the community,” read the statement. “Council assures our residents that we remain united in our commitment to work collaboratively, guided by a strong sense of public service and a focus on the greater good.”

The statement closed by saying the Town will take the necessary steps to address the vacancy and will inform the public of the process moving forward, in accordance with legislation.

Skoglund was voted in as mayor last fall after long-time mayor Al Jellicoe chose not to run in the election.
