Man wanted in connection to two shootings arrested

A 19-year-old man is facing several charges including attempted murder, forcible confinement, aggravated assault, and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking among multiple firearms related charges.

Prince Albert Police said the man was wanted in relation to two shootings this month and was arrested on Tuesday outside of a business in the 800 block of 15th St. W. following an investigation by the Crime Reduction Time (CRT), Proactive Policing Unit (PPU), and patrol members. Officers also located three grams of methamphetamine, 32 grams of cocaine, bear spray, cash and other items consistent with drug trafficking.

The first shooting incident occurred Aug. 3 around 12:30 p.m. when police were called to the 1600 block of 17th St. W. for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived they found a 26-year-old man who had injuries, but they were not life threatening. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving.

The second shooting happened Aug. 12. An officer conducting routine patrols in the South Hill area around 7 a.m. noticed an injured 29-year-old man sitting in the middle of the road on Second Ave. W. The man had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. Again, the suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
