Trial dates confirmed for Wenzel murder case

Two weeks have been set aside in June of next year for Quentin Gardiner’s murder trial at Court of King’s Bench.

He is one of two men alleged responsible for the death of Norman Wenzel on Canada Day, 2024.

As per discussions held during a pre-trial conference, Gardiner’s trial will commence June 15, 2026.

On the day of the incident, Prince Albert Police were called to Kemp Crescent for a disturbance and found Wenzel suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

Both Gardiner and Rylan Hansen were charged with first degree murder.

Hansen has a preliminary inquiry hearing scheduled for March.

The Crown indicated plans to call seven witnesses to the stand for the hearing which will determine whether the matter proceeds to trial.
