Team Sask takes home 48 medals in Summer Games

After a hard-fought two weeks at the Canada Summer Games in St. Johns, Team Sask is leaving the games with 48 medals in hand, 44 of which were earned in the last six days of competition.

Among the 48 medals were 13 gold, 14 silver and 21 bronze.

Team Sask consisted of 488 athletes, coaches and managers from across the province who competed in 19 different events over the course of the games.

The athlete who earned the most individual medals was Lila Stewart, who won two gold medals and one bronze in Artistic Women’s Diving, 1 metre Springboard Women’s Diving and 3 metre Springboard Women’s Diving respectively.

The other Team Sask multi-medal athletes were Brendan Cote-Williamson, Bradyn Giraudier, Jonathan Podbielski, Shelaine Pritchard, David Lipton, Hailee Woodhouse and Kash Tarasoff, who each won two apiece.

Stewart and Cote-Williamson lead Team Sask into the Canada Summer Games closing ceremony on Sunday.

Team Sask’s 48 medals put them at fifth overall out of 13 teams, one representing each province and territory.
