A two-day traffic enforcement blitz in and around Prince Albert last week had some positive results.

PA Police worked with multiple other policing agencies and SGI to target drivers that were impaired by drugs or alcohol, distracted driving and regulations surrounding vehicles.

This round of the STEP program saw 372 tickets and 248 warnings handed out.

Included in that were 11 roadside suspensions, five positives for THC, two positives for cocaine, two more positive for cocaine and TCH and two for alcohol.

Police impounded 20 vehicles and executed three criminal code warrants plus one person got new criminal charges.

As is now standard when RCMP pull over traffic, Mandatory Alcohol Screening tests were administered to 244 people. While PA Police don’t administer the tests as a matter of course, that changes during traffic enforcement blitzes.

Twice, a vehicle tried to evade officers at the check stop.

A previous version of this article included a photo of a well-known local transport company that was in the stop but no tickets or violations were issued to the driver or the company.
