Meyers Norris Penny donates $100K to Lake Country Co-Op Leisure Centre

For a cheque presentation that will ultimately benefit the two new rinks at the Lake Country Co-Op Leisure Centre, it seemed only fitting for the people involved to gather on the shiny ice surface.

Tuesday’s $100,000 donation from Meyers Norris Penny (MNP) will pay for an ice resurfacer.

“This gift from MNP is about more than just equipment – it’s about helping build a place where people of all ages can connect, play and thrive,” said Ward 7 city councillor Dawn Kilmer in a press release.

The Play it Forward fundraising campaign was launched in December of 2024 and has to date, raised nearly $11 million.

The two rinks have been in use since the spring, and the nearby pool was opened last week.

An official grand opening celebration for the entire facility has been planned for Friday.
