Raiders face preseason loss in all-rookie matchup with Blades

Sep 2, 2025 | 5:57 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders’ young guns fired first to take the lead after the opening 20 minutes of their first preseason game, but ended up falling 4-1 to the Saskatoon Blades Tuesday afternoon.

Henning Reinprecht got the only goal for the Raiders thanks to Walker Bergen who led a breakout through the neutral zone and hit Reinprecht with a pass at centre ice. Once he made his way from the right circle to the crease, Reinprecht took a shot short side, beating Bracken Laroque high on the glove side.

Evan Wandler stopped all 13 shots he faced in the first period.

Midway through the second period, Saskatoon tied the game when Julian Revel scored. About five minutes later, Kiptyn Kennedy pounced on the puck that had bounced off the end wall and past Carter Adams who had replaced Wandler. Gavin Clark extended Saskatoon’s lead to 3-1 with 5:23 left in the middle frame. Prince Albert was outshot 10-3 in the second period.

The Raiders couldn’t find any offence in the third period, and an empty net goal from Adam Halat made it a 4-1 game with :55 seconds left.

Neither team will have much time to rest as they’ll face off in a rematch tomorrow night in Prince Albert. Puck drop is at 6 p.m.
