Buckland shooting case comes to end after witnesses no show trial

Sep 4, 2025 | 3:00 PM

A man alleged responsible for a shooting incident in the Rural Municipality of Buckland, walked out of Prince Albert Provincial Court a free man.

Curtis Caron’s scheduled trial on Thursday did not proceed and all his charges were stayed by the Crown.

That’s due to the fact none of the witnesses showed up to testify.

Caron was supported in the courtroom by two family members who appeared visibly relieved by the decision.

In the early evening hours of March 16, 2025, Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a firearm-related injury.

The victim was located and transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening in nature.

Through their investigation, police learned an altercation had occurred between a small group of people.

A not guilty plea was entered last May.

When a charge is stayed, the Crown does have up to a year to bring the case back to court should new evidence come to light.
