Another seizure of illegal substances has happened at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary, according to the Correctional Service of Canada.

CSC said that watchful staff resulted in packages containing methamphetamine and THC valued at $56,000 were seized on August 29.

Police have been informed and are investigating.

Corrections said it is heightening measures to stop contraband from entering its facilities to make sure prisoners and staff have a safe and secure environment.

They use tools such as drug detector dogs and scanners to search buildings, property, inmates and visitors.

A telephone tip line for all federal institutions has been set up for those having information on illegal substances going into prisons.

The toll-free number, 1‑866‑780‑3784, helps ensure that the information shared is protected and that callers remain anonymous.
