With three of the six games of the preseason already in the books, the Prince Albert Raiders headed to Warman on Saturday night for the fourth and final preseason game against the Saskatoon Blades. The Raiders lead for most of the game, but the Blades managed to tie it late and take the win in overtime.

The Raiders struck quickly at the 1:48 mark when Ty Meunier sent the puck up the left wall for Ethan Bibeau, sending him on a 2-on-1 with Jonah Sivertson. Bibeau waited until the last moment to get the pass across, and Sivertson redirected it in for his third goal of the preseason.

From there, both teams traded chances back and forth with each team getting a look on the powerplay, but the Raiders managed to hold on to the lead for the opening frame.

After 1: Raiders 1 – 0 Blades, shots 12-9 Blades

In the second, the Blades managed to tie it up at the 5:08 mark. After Raiders defenceman Matyas Man had his stick break at centre ice, he got caught on the ice for an extended period of time without a stick. He still managed to protect the front of the net and the Raiders got the puck out to centre, but the Blades took quick control of the puck and set up a 2-on-1 with Dominik Petr handling the puck away from Man, and Petr sent a pass across to the left for Rowan Calvert to score.

The Raiders took the lead back again at the 19:13 mark when Linden Burrett gave the puck over towards the left point for Hubert Clarke, and he used the bodies in front for a great screened shot, tucking the puck in just under the bar before the end of the period.

After 2: Raiders 2 – 1 Blades, shots 11-9 Blades, 23-18 Blades overall

With Steele Bass in net for the Raiders during the second half of the game, the Raiders managed to play decent defence to limit the good chances he faced against him until the final three minutes of the game. First Bennett Kelly was given a delay of game penalty after clearing the puck over the glass from his own zone, and shortly after Owen Corkish also went to the box for delay of game for playing the puck with his hand during the faceoff.

With 55 seconds of 6-on-3 powerplay with the goalie pulled to work with, the Blades hit two posts before they managed to tie the game with 17 seconds left in the game. After cycling the puck around the blueline, the Blades set up Dominik Petr with a onetimer on the right side to tie the game at 2-2.

After 3: Raiders 2 – 2 Blades, shots 12-11 Blades, 35-29 Blades overall

The Blades still had the man advantage in overtime for 1:05, now a 4-on-3, and they scored at the 1:00 minute mark. Another play started by Dominik Petr, the Blades one the numbers game when Petr tried to shoot, but the puck was blocked and skittered towards the slot, and Tyler Parr was streaking in to bury the rebound before Steele Bass could reset from the first shot.

FINAL (OT): Raiders 2 – 3 Blades, shots 1-0 Blades, 36-29 Blades overall

Michal Orsulak started the game in goal for the Raiders, going 19/20 on the night. Steele Bass was in for the rest of the game including overtime, stopping 14/16 shots faced.

That wraps up the four game preseason set between the Raiders and the Blades. Now the Raiders will get set for two games with the Regina Pats starting on Thursday in Yorkton, and one last preseason matchup on Saturday back at the Art Hauser Centre.
