Two men are facing charges after RCMP tracked down stolen trucks north of North Battleford.

Police say they were called to a worksite theft in the early hours of Sept. 7, when an F-150 and a flat-deck truck were reported stolen.

Officers located the F-150 near Moosomin First Nation and tried to pull it over, but the truck sped off before hitting a tire deflation device in the RM of Meota.

The vehicle became disabled in a field and two men fled on foot before being caught with the help of police dogs.

RCMP say the second truck was later found abandoned in a ditch.

Charges have been laid against 33-year-old Dillon Pooyak of North Battleford and 35-year-old Dwayne Katcheech of Saulteaux First Nation.

Pooyak faces five charges, including flight from police, theft of a truck, dangerous driving, and breaching a recognizance. Katcheech is charged with theft, flight from police and failing to comply with probation.

Both men appeared in the city’s provincial court Wednesday.
