RCMP probing attempted child abduction in North Battleford amid report of suspicious vehicle

Sep 10, 2025 | 2:19 PM

RCMP are investigating an attempted abduction of a young girl in North Battleford after a report of a suspicious vehicle Tuesday evening near the park and recreation centre on 104th Street.

Police say a girl under the age of 12 told officers a white sedan with red rims and tinted windows approached her around 6:30 p.m. and that two men inside tried to grab her. She was able to escape and run home.

A resident, identifying herself as the girl’s grandmother, Lynn Tootoosis, posted on Facebook on the same day, saying the 11-year-old was walking home when a man allegedly got out of the car and tried to pull her inside.

“A small white car, tinted windows, red rims( looked painted) with two males ( Caucasian-about six-feet) and an [Indo-Canadian] male ( black pants, black T-shirt, grabbed her and tried to pull her into the car,” Tootoosis wrote.

“This has been reported to the RCMP. She is so traumatized! It is not safe to walk alone in this town.”

RCMP say officers responded quickly after the call but were unable to locate the vehicle. Mounties are still working to gather information about the car and its occupants.

The report follows other community concerns.

On Aug. 31, a resident posted online about a large white rental van with tinted windows that allegedly followed two boys riding bicycles along St. Laurent Drive.

“Those boys got real scared and biked away from that white van. Those two boys said they were scared and I told them to go home and tell their parents!” wrote Facebook user Clayton Sask Bugler.
