Woman charged after break-and-enters at Nipawin businesses

Nipawin RCMP have made an arrest after a break-and-enter in the community on Thursday.

Officers were called to a business in the 300 blk. of 1st Ave. W. and found a woman inside who was subsequently arrested.

Two additional break-and-enters in the 1000 blk. of 8th St. W. were also reported to police, with all three businesses reporting theft of an undetermined amount of cash.

The investigation determined that a single suspect was responsible.

Daynia Head, 20, of Red Earth Cree nation has been charged with:

  • 3 counts, break and enter to a business and commit an indictable offence, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
  • 3 counts, theft under five thousand dollars, Section 334(b) Criminal Code;
  • 3 counts, mischief damage to property less than five thousand dollars, Section 430 (4) Criminal Code.

She will appear in Melfort Provincial Court via CCTV on Monday.

“Responding officers arrived within minutes of the call which was helpful in making a timely arrest in this case,” Nipawin Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Kyle Wyonzek said in the RCMP news release.
