The Melfort Mustangs have announced their leadership group for the 2025/26 season.

Zayden Sadlemyer is the club’s newest captain and will be joined by Austin Shepherd, Nolan Patterson, and Bo Eisner as the assistants.

Sadlemyer, a Buena Vista, SK. native, joined the Mustangs prior to the beginning of last season, after spending the 2023/24 campaign with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. In 73 games last year, split between regular season, playoffs, and the Centennial Cup, the 20-year-old forward had 23 goals and 35 assists – good for 58 points.

As for Shepherd, Patterson, and Eisner, each is entering their third full season with Melfort and all of them are 20 years old.

In Shepherd’s case, he’s suited up 144 times in a Blue and Green uniform; two of such games were in the 2022/23 season as an AP. During that time, the Kerrobert, SK. forward, has amassed 12 goals and 26 points for 38 points.

Patterson played seven times as an affiliate player during the 2022/23 year, before two full seasons with the Stangs. In 146 contests with the organization, the Rose Valley, SK. forward has produced 18 goals and 20 assists, also good for 38 points.

And finally, Eisner, a Swan River, MB. defenceman, has 138 matches with Melfort, registering 10 goals and 28 assists, once again totalling 38 points.

The Mustangs begin this year’s campaign Friday night at home against the Nipawin Hawks.
