A 25-year-old woman has been arrested by Prince Albert Police following an armed robbery of a vehicle yesterday.

Kealee Benjamin was charged with the robbery and multiple firearms charges, making her first appearance in provincial court this morning.

Officers were called to a business in the 2200 block of Sixth Avenue East at 3:40 p.m. yesterday afternoon for the reported robbery and found the victim with no physical injuries.

Later they found the stolen vehicle in the 600 block of 17th Street West and followed it to the 2100 block of Second Avenue West and pulled it over, but the occupants fled.

An eyewitness who spoke to paNOW on the condition of anonymity said they were pulling into the restaurant and had parked beside the black Jeep when it was being stolen.

“That guy was yelling and then I looked over there and I saw a barrel gun,” they said. “I was like I need to drive off like that gun pointing at us right now.”

The victim then asked the witness to call 9-1-1, explained how woman was choking him from the back and another was in the front holding him at gunpoint.

“That vehicle just drove off on top of the sidewalk, drove past the red light, another red light then went down to Walmart and then that guy came in. He was so terrified.”

During their investigation, officers found the female suspect and called in the K9 unit which led to discovery of a backpack containing a gun and ammunition.

Benjamin remains in custody and has her next court hearing on Sept. 18.
