NCHCF looking to hire executive director

Sep 17, 2025 | 4:02 PM

An opportunity to become part of the effort to improve health care in the Melfort area.

The North Central Health Care Foundation (NCHCF) is hiring an executive director.

Chairperson Peggy George told northeastNOW the work the organization does is extensive and the need is growing. She said the work has always been done by the volunteer board, and when she started in 2015 the board met two or three times a year.

“We now meet once a month and we still can’t get all of the work done, quite often,” George said. “It’s just not sustainable any longer to rely on volunteers to do the work that needs to be done.”

George said a significant focus of the executive director would be the finances of the organization, including the administrative work.

“Keeping track of our procurements, paying invoices, and all of those kinds of things,” George said.

The position will begin as a part-time job; however, George said it could evolve into something larger as the NCHCF’s duties grow. She said the work they do toward assisting health care in the community is ever-changing and expanding.

The ideal candidate would be approachable, outgoing, and passionate about improving health care in Melfort and area.

George said the NCHCF is also looking to expanding their board of directors. The mandate is for board members to serve terms of two or three years, and George said some of the volunteers have spent 10 years on the board. She said it would be nice to refresh the board and have new members join.

The organization’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is being held Oct. 1 and George said it would be great for people with an interest in local health care to attend. The AGM will also outline the organization’s finances and what they’ve done with the money raised over the past year.

George said the NCHCF wants and needs to expand.

“Health care is something that affects absolutely everybody, from your first breath in life until your last breath.”

George added that it takes everybody to join in and help.

While there is no hiring deadline for the executive director position, George said they would ideally like to find the right candidate as soon as possible. Anyone interested in the executive director position or a spot on the board of directors can visit their website to contact Peggy or another member of the NCHCF team.

Over the years, the organization has helped raise funds to purchase equipment like incubators, lifts, digital imaging, a new CT scanner, and also helped establish the heliport at the Melfort Hospital.
