Increased RCMP presence in Pierceland as theft, gunfire investigation continues

Sep 19, 2025 | 4:43 PM

RCMP are investigating a string of thefts that escalated into shots being fired at a vehicle outside a business in Pierceland.

Police said between Sept. 16 and 17, as many as three to four suspects stole five vehicles, keys and a significant amount of equipment from the business.

Then, on Sept. 18 around 11:40 p.m., RCMP said they received another report of a vehicle being stolen from the same property. An individual who tried to intervene was driving onto the site when suspects shot at their vehicle and later tried to ram it. The driver was not physically injured.

Pierceland RCMP responded with assistance from Cold Lake RCMP. Officers said two suspect vehicles were located but fled from police, and investigators believe the suspects crossed into Alberta.

Residents can expect an increased RCMP presence in the area as the investigation continues.

Investigators are working to identify suspects, recover the stolen vehicles and determine what the suspects may currently be driving.

RCMP advised residents not to approach suspicious persons and to call 911 in an emergency or RCMP for crimes in progress. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

“Updates will be provided as they become available. If any imminent risk to public safety is identified, we will notify the public,” officers said in a release issued Friday, Sept. 19.
