The man who was at the top of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s most wanted list since April has been arrested in Hall Lake in the northern part of the province.

Members of the La Ronge RCMP detachment found 43-year-old James Merasty in Hall Lake after being called to a dispute.

They were called to a home in the community just before midnight on September 11, also learning that it involved a wanted man.

Officers responded and learned the suspect threatened a group of people and pointed a gun at one them.

No one was injured and Merasty was arrested at the scene.

His new charges include three counts of failing to comply with release order conditions, and multiple gun-related counts.

He was already wanted by La Ronge RCMP in connection with several incidents starting in July of 2024.

Those charges include assault, uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm, six counts of unlawful confinement and obstructing justice.

Merasty was number one on the RCMP’s most wanted list since April 2025. He is remanded into custody until his next appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court on Sept. 25.
