New animal rescue launched in La Ronge
A new animal rescue in La Ronge is looking to make an impact for abandoned or stray pets in Northern Saskatchewan.
“We’re just in the early stages of opening and incorporating and what not, and it has only been a week or two since we have done that,” said Chelsie Breeze, who recently founded Boreal Animal Rescue.
“I was the chair of the board for Northern Animal Rescue (NAR) for over a year, and we did see quite some crazy things during the evacuation and what not, and the growing need for the demand of services in the North for animal rescue and control. That is why I decided to open up my own rescue because NAR does a very good job, they have been around for a long time. They are just a little limited as to what they can do with surrounding community outreach and what not, because they do take care of the Town of La Ronge animal control and they are tired, they have been doing it for a long time, so a group of us got together and decided it’s time for a new venture and a new rescue. We are so excited to be here and to being doing this for the animals in the North.”
Boreal Animal Rescue doesn’t have a facility to work out of, but are currently operating as a foster home network at this time. Breeze noted she has already made contacts in Deschambeault Lake, Stanley Mission and Sucker River, but added she would like to grow the rescue throughout Northern Saskatchewan as time permits.
