The Prince Albert Police Service recieved a call Tuesday night at 11:38 p.m. after a reported robbery at a business on the 2800 block of Sixth Avenue East.

The initial report stated a person was armed with a knife when they robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of merchandise.

Police were able to use security footage of the incident and eye witness reports to build a description of the suspect. That lead to an attempted K9 track by a member of the Saskatchewan Conservation Officer Service, but that was unsuccessful.

While still on the search however, a police officer located a man fitting the description, and the man discarded a backpack before running from police. He was caught after a short foot pursuit.

Searching the discarded backpack resulted in police finding a knife and a pair of bolt cutters.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on charges of robbery, resisting arrest, and possession of break and enter tools. His first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court is today (Sept. 24).
