Trojans announce leadership group, trio named to WHL Cup

Sep 25, 2025 | 5:37 PM

The Tisdale Trojans have announced their new leadership group for the 2025/26 season.

Taren Erhardt is the club’s newest captain, having spent the last two seasons as a member of the Trojans.

The 17-year-old Warman forward has played 81 games with Tisdale in his U18 AAA career, registering 14 points.

As for the assistant captains, Austin Sittler and Carter Corbett will hold the full-time reins, with Carter Hudyma and Jacob Tait being named as the home and road assistant captains, respectively.

Sittler, a 17-year-old defenceman from Wilkie, has just one year of experience with the Trojans, putting up three points in 45 games.

As for Corbett, the 17-year-old forward has parts of two seasons under his belt with his hometown team, accumulating 12 points in 45 games.

Meanwhile, Hudyma, a 17-year-old forward from Moose Jaw, has yet to suit up in a Trojans uniform, having played last season with the U18 AAA Notre Dame Hounds. In 41 games, he racked up 44 points.

And finally, Tait, a 16-year-old forward from Prince Albert, is entering his second year in Tisdale, having produced 35 points in 46 games last season.

“We let the room have a lot of say in who the leaders are for this team, and I think the room did a great job picking guys who have been through the battles here, put in the hard work at practices and sacrificed for the team. If you look at our leadership group, it’s guys who play a role and understand that being a team-first guy is a very important thing. They’re also the hardest workers, so I’m glad our younger guys were able to recognize that’s what our program is all about,” explained head coach Wes Rudy.

“I think that they’re all excited and honoured to be able to wear a letter with our organization. I guarantee you that they will continue to be the hardest workers and set an example for the rest of the team in everything that they do.”

In other club news, three of the younger players of the group have been named to Team Saskatchewan for this year’s WHL Cup.

Forwards Kash Elke and Camryn Aebig, along with defenceman Jett Prpich, will be representing their home province in Red Deer, Alta. from Oct. 22-26.

‘I think first and foremost, they’re all hard workers on and off the ice, and they’re good kids as well. They’re also leaders, and every one of them shows that they can lead and drive the bus in practice and just work hard. It’s a pretty good honour to be picked for that group, as you’re putting yourself inside the top 12 forwards or top six defencemen in the province, so you’re obviously already on a trajectory to success. I think if they keep working hard and doing the right things, that sets them up well for their future,” Rudy added.

“When you put any 20 of those high-level calibre kids together, they’re all going to learn from each other and pick up good habits. Obviously, the program itself is a great program for those kids to be in, so I think they’ll come back with even better attitudes and work ethic, and they can just learn from the opportunity.”

Prpich and Elke have already been drafted by WHL teams, while Aebig will be looking to prove every organization wrong in not calling his name.

The trio of 15-year-olds all enter the 2025/26 SMAAAHL campaign with at least one game of U18 AAA experience already in the bag.

They won’t even have to miss any regular-season games when attending the WHL Cup, as coach Rudy left that weekend open in anticipation of his players’ names being called.
