Riders choose to stay positive following back-to-back losses

Riders quarterback Trevor Harris said that he wouldn’t change his team for anything.

“I wouldn’t trade any of this team for any team, and I mean that,” he said. “I feel like we’re going to hit our stride at the right time, and I do think our best football is right on the horizon.”

“I really, really believe in this team, and I think we’ll be there in the end, but we just have to take it one game at a time,” he said.

Head coach Corey Mace has a similar feeling towards the team.

“The one thing we know about this group is they’re going to play their tails off, man. Just all the way to the end. I’m so proud of those guys for that.”

As for changes the team could make to avoid another loss, Harris said that the team has to come out onto the field swinging.

“Obviously what we’re doing, the way we’re doing it, has not been good enough the last two weeks, and so we’ve got to find a way to start fast,” he said.

“No matter what that means, how it looks, or the urgency in terms of getting going early, whatever that is, we have to start faster,” said Harris.

“The silver lining for me is I know what this group is, I know what they have as far as being able to play to the last whistle, it’s just, I’d love for us to start playing at the first whistle, too,” Mace said.

The Roughriders will have a chance at redemption this week when they face the Ottawa Redblacks, the team sitting last in the East, on Friday.
