The Humboldt Broncos’ newsfeed has been quite busy over the last 24 hours, as the club added two WHL players to their roster, while a former forward of theirs has committed to a professional hockey team in Norway.

Boris Kofman is the newest member of Manglerud Star Ishockey in Oslo, Norway, in the Norwegian Second Division.

Kofman, a 20-year-old from Moskva, Russia, played the last two years in Humboldt, producing 72 points in 82 games.

“On behalf of the entire Broncos organization, I want to congratulate Boris on taking this next step,” said Broncos’ Head Coach and GM Brayden Klimosko. “It’s not an easy feat to jump right into European pro hockey, and Boris deserves credit for the hard work and leadership he’s shown both on and off the ice.”

As for the recent acquisitions by the Green and Gold, they include defenceman Tyrone Sobry and forward Owen Chapman.

Sobry comes to Humboldt after spending parts of three seasons with the Prince Albert Raiders.

The son of former Humboldt all-star goalie, Rick Sobry, Tyrone has 91 games of WHL experience under his belt, accumulating 10 points during that time.

Sobry, a 19-year-old, played two games for the Broncos back in the 2022/23 season, picking up a single assist.

“We’re very happy to add a defenseman like Tyrone to our roster,” added Klimosko. “We’re proud to have 14 Saskatchewan-born players in our lineup this season. It gives us a strong local core to continue building off the great start we’ve had.”

The Green and Gold’s other addition comes in the form of forward Owen Chapman.

Chapman, a 17-year-old, has four games of experience in the WHL with the Portland Winterhawks, split between this season and last. Meanwhile, he also suited up for the Broncos in the 2024/25 campaign on 10 occasions.

“We are excited to add Chappy to the mix,” Klimosko concluded. “He knows the returning guys and understands the expectations here of what we are looking for as Broncos. He should add some secondary scoring that we desperately need.”
