Two people have been arrested, and another remains on the run in connection with an attempted murder and kidnapping on Moosomin First Nation.

Battlefords RCMP say they responded to a serious assault on Sept. 14 at a home on the reserve, and investigators determined a group in a vehicle approached a man and woman, assaulted the man, robbed him and forced the woman into the vehicle before later assaulting her.

The woman was able to escape and seek help. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the man suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford General Investigation Section has charged three people from Moosomin First Nation — 34-year-old Jordan Osecap, 28-year-old Neishia Baptiste and 25-year-old Wionna Katcheech.

Each faces counts of kidnapping with a firearm, attempted murder, robbery with a firearm and intimidation of a justice system participant.

Osecap was arrested Sept. 18 on Saulteaux First Nation and is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Oct. 22.

Baptiste was arrested by the RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team in North Battleford on Oct. 2, prompting a heavy police presence that day on 106th Street. She is scheduled to appear in the same provincial court on Oct. 6.

A warrant remains in effect for Katcheech, who is described as five-foot-four, 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Mounties are urging the public not to approach her, but to call 310-RCMP or submit tips anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
