The Warman Wolverines forced a shootout but had to settle for a single point in a 4-3 loss as they were swept by the Flin Flon Bombers in their first ever series at the Whitney Forum on Saturday night in Flin Flon.

First-year SJHLer Kane Kennedy scored twice for Warman, giving him three goals in the weekend series and extending his goal streak to two games. The forward also recorded an assist and now has seven points in seven in seven games played this season.

Rhett Ewen started the scoring, putting one past Griffin Wright in the first period to make the score 1-0 in favour of the Bombers after the first 20 minutes.

Kennedy scored his first goal of the game at the 2:39 mark of the second period to tie it at 1-1 only for Maverick Deslisle to put the Bombers back in front. Kennedy struck again when he put in his second of the game to knot the score at 2-2 after two periods of play.

Cam Sarna put the Wolverines ahead, scoring the first goal of the third period to make it 3-2 for the Wolverines but Ryder Mucha tied it up at 3-3 by the end of regulation time, sending the game into overtime.

With no scoring in the three-on-three session, it was off to the shootout and Ryder Arberry put in the only goal in the fourth round to keep the Flin Flon Bombers perfect through six games played.

Griffin Wright stopped 38 of 41 shots faced in his third game of the season and SaskTel Goalie of the Week Devin Peck denied 20 of 23 shots in the Bombers net. The Wolverines sit fourth in the Nutrien Division with a 1-5-1 record and the Bombers are first overall in the SJHL at 6-0.

The Wolverines next game will see them take on the Nipawin Hawks at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex on Friday, October 10. Every Wolverines game can be heard live on Sask Now.com.
