Driver flees after two vehicle crash

A two vehicle crash during morning rush hour, prompted a response from multiple police vehicles as well as the city’s fire department and Parkland Ambulance.

The crash occurred around 8:40a.m. at the intersection of McDonald Ave.and 28th St. E.

Parkland Ambulance confirmed there were no injuries.

According to information provided by police, arriving officers located the occupant of a grey SUV that appeared to have been rear-ended by another SUV.

Officers learned the occupant of the second SUV had fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. Shortly after, officers located the man in the 900 block of second St. E. where he was arrested without further incident.

Police also learned the man was breaching a release order.

As a result of this investigation, the 51-year-old has been charged with failure to remain at the scene of a motor vehicle collision and failure to comply with a release order.
