The candidates have been announced for the Town of Tisdale’s mayoral by-election next month.

As northeastNOW reported earlier, councillors Mike Hill and Dean Janzen had announced their candidacy before the deadline to submit nomination forms on Wednesday.

The deadline to withdraw nominations was Thursday at 4 p.m., and we now know that Hill and Janzen will be the two candidates on the ballot.

Hill has been on Tisdale’s town council for the past nine years, while Janzen was first elected to council last fall.

Residents can vote in the mayoral by-election at an advance poll Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Maurice Taylor Performing Arts Theatre in the RECplex.

The regular poll will be held in the same location from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Former mayor Roy Skoglund resigned in August, citing the demands of the role and the lack of renumeration as reasons for his departure.
