Melfort ships Hayes to Swan Valley

The Melfort Mustangs have made a trade.

The club has sent Nathan Hayes to the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s (MJHL) Swan Valley Stampeders.

Hayes was new to the Mustangs this season, having previously spent time with the British Columbia Hockey League’s (BCHL) Prince George Spruce Kings and Victoria Grizzlies, and the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League’s (VIJHL) Port Alberni Bombers and Oceanside Generals.

Hayes, a 19-year-old from Nanimo, B.C., played just four games for Melfort, registering a single assist.

In return for the trade, the Stangs have acquired a PDF (Player Development Fee) from Swan Valley.

The six-foot-two, 181-pound defenceman made his Stampeders debut on Tuesday, in a 2-1 loss to the Dauphin Kings.

As for the Blue and Green, they will next play this weekend, when they head south for their first overnighter of the season, facing off against the Weyburn Red Wings and the Estevan Bruins.
