For the first time since 2014, the Prince Albert Raiders have made a trade with the Saskatoon Blades. The Raiders sent 19-year-old defenceman Tyrone Sobry to the Blades in exchange for a conditional sixth round pick in 2029.

Originally a ninth round pick by the Raiders, Sobry spent three seasons with the team and played in a total of 87 games, earning 3G-7A-10P in that time. Sobry played in four games to start the 2025-26 season, earning one assist.

With the return of Justice Christensen to the Raiders defensive core, Sobry was reassigned to the SJHL where he played with the Humboldt Broncos, where he’s played five games and earned 3G-3A-6P in that time.

The trade marks the first time the Raiders and Blades have made a trade in 11 years.

The last time the two teams made a trade, the Raiders acquired 20-year-old defenceman Graeme Craig, who was the Blades captain at the time, along with draft picks in the 2014 (seventh round) and 2016 (fifth round) drafts. That seventh round pick in 2014 for the Raiders would turn into Parker Kelly, and the fifth round pick in 2016 would be used in another trade.

In exchange, the Blades received 20 -year-old defenceman MacKenzie Johnston, 18-year-old defenceman Tyler Dea, and two picks (third and fifth round) in the 2015 draft.
