Arts council announces concert line up

The La Ronge Arts Council has announced its concert line up for this fall and winter.

The line up begins with folk and americana musician John Muirhead, who will be performing at the Air Ronge Elks Hall on Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m., followed by Academy Award nominated comedian Aliyah Kanani at the same location on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.

Performances will continue in 2026 with up-and-coming country signer Travis Dolter at the Jonas Roberts Community Memorial Centre on Jan. 10 at 5 p.m., followed by country singer Tommy Charles at the same location on April 18 at 6:30 p.m.

“In the past, we have been getting a lot of duos and folk music and things like that,” said performing arts coordinator Connie Haugen.

“We try to touch on different genres like Indigenous artists and different people we think our community would like to listen to. We just try to choose a variety.”

Haugen explained the arts council is most excited for the event on Jan. 10 as it is a fundraiser for the new long-term care facility currently under construction in La Ronge. That event will include a dinner, show and an art auction.

There will also be a bar available, as well as games, a 50/50 and a wine pull.

“This year, we wanted to try hosting a big event to try and fundraise for the long-term care facility, so we chose country because we thought maybe that was something popular in our community,” Haugen noted.

“It’s kind of our dream as a council to raise enough to buy a room. That’s our goal.”

Tickets for the events can be purchased at the La Ronge General Store, Marker 47 Cafe and the Woodlands and Waterways Visitor Centre. Tickets can also be purchased online by emailing larongeart@gmail.com
