Weekend fire deemed suspicious

Oct 20, 2025 | 4:41 PM

The La Ronge Regional Fire Department is investigating a weekend blaze deemed suspicious.

That’s according to the Fire Chief Keaton Cloud, who in an email to larongeNOW stated firefighters were called to the early morning fire on Sunday at 3:10 a.m. in Bigstone. Firefighters remained on the scene for six hours.

“[The] exact cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, though, appears to have been started at the rear of the building and quickly made it into the roof structure,” Cloud noted.

That fire remains under investigation and there were no injuries reported.

The department also responded to a second fire on Sunday along Mikisew Drive at 4:30 a.m. Firefighters had to divert resources between incidents.

“The cause of the structure fire on Mikisew was accidental in nature and not suspicious or connected to the first fire,” Cloud added.

“No injuries reported for that fire. Both fires are considered total losses.”
