Gas prices dip in the Battlefords — for now

Oct 27, 2025 | 3:59 PM

A recent reprieve from higher gas prices has been welcomed in the Battlefords area, but experts are warning residents not to get too used to it.

According to GasBuddy.com, the city is currently seeing an average gas price of 130.8 c/L. That’s about .05 cents less compared to last month’s average and down significantly from last year’s overall average of 149.9 c/L.

“I think that’s where we’re going to be from here to Christmas, saving except some few unforeseeable [issues] like a large refinery running into some trouble, or perhaps some geopolitical tensions, maybe some surrounding issues of trade in the economy,” said Dan McTeague, president of Canadian for Affordable Energy.

Saskatchewan continues to be one of the cheaper provinces when it comes to gas. McTeague said prices typically stay in the 130.0 c/L to 135.0 c/L range. Right now, consumers in British Columbia, Quebec and Newfoundland are paying up to 148.7 c/L.

While gas prices aren’t expected to drop, the price of diesel is expected to rise as the weather gets colder.

“There’s a bit of a crimp in diesel supplies right now. That’s why diesel prices shot up. Just in the past little while about net eight cents a litre, so that’s likely to stay with another 10 cents a litre rise by the time we hit Christmas,” McTeague said.

Head of Petroleum Analysis at GasBuddy, Patrick De Haan said local gas stations do play a role in determining their own prices.

“Stations essentially buy the gasoline and resell it. So simply, they have a choice in how much margin they’re making between what they buy and sell at,” De Haan said.

The cheapest gas in the province on Monday could be found in Lloydminster where the average price was 124.9 c/L. Saskatoon had the most expensive gas at 132.4 c/L.
