Local teams advance in high school football playoffs

Provincial high school football playoffs have kicked off, with several local teams moving on.

The Melfort Comets earned a 36-16 victory over Moose Jaw Vanier in 4A nine-aside playoff action.

The Comets will now travel to Humboldt to face the Mohawks.

Humboldt advanced after a 66-6 drubbing of Foam Lake.

The Tisdale Tornadoes season came to an end on Saturday after falling 43-13 to Lumsden, as the Devils move on to face Melville.

In 2A six-aside playoffs, Wakaw beat Unity 68-29 and they will visit Clavet in the next round.

The Cougars beat Wynyard 36-18.

In the other semi-final, Watrous will host Rosetown.

In 1A six-aside, Carrot River bounced Biggar 54-28, and the Wildcats will host Hafford on Saturday.

Lemberg faces Hanley in the other semi-final.
