Teenaged youth accused of bear spraying off duty police officer

Oct 27, 2025 | 2:08 PM

A 17-year-old boy who allegedly released bear spray into a parked vehicle, likely wasn’t expecting the driver to be a police officer.

This happened Saturday evening in Prince Albert’s Carlton Park area.

At approximately 6:40 p.m., the city police service were dispatched to the area of Sixth Ave. and 22 St. E.

Through their investigation, officers learned an off-duty officer was driving when the young suspect ran across the street.

The driver rolled down their window to speak with the boy and that’s when the boy allegedly discharged bear spray into the vehicle.

The off-duty officer then exited his vehicle and detained the suspect until police arrived on scene.

As a result, the 17-year-old boy has been charged with possession of a weapon and assault with a weapon. He was scheduled to make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
